I have long wondered when and how 3D sensing technology would be involved in photography. It’s interesting to see high-end videography use Lidars for autofocus. See the new DJI RS3 Pro gimbal.

Update (6/16): Miki Rubinstein is reminding me that the iPhone 12 switched to a Lidar and uses it for AF as well. And older iPhones were using IR sensors and illumination for depth sensing (for Face ID for example).
